Research interests or career goals
My PhD research focuses on young people’s sexual and reproductive health (SRH) in Bangladesh. I have a keen interest in health inequalities and action research. Prior to joining LSHTM, I worked in various research and advocacy roles. After completing my PhD, I want to continue learning all the things and doing similar work in the field of SRH.
Why I chose LSHTM/my course
According to my old application letter (as well as the above ‘research interests’ section) I chose to apply to LSHTM because of “a keen interest in health inequalities and action research”. True story.
Two main ‘logistical’ considerations also contributed to my decision:
1. Finding a potential supervisor who shares my interests and would willingly supervise my research was, of course, a very important step in the process. Luckily, the School is home to many such talented and engaging professors with diverse research interests and tonnes of experience.
2. Funding was a key concern. There are a few funding opportunities at LSHTM – I applied for, and was awarded, the ‘1+3’ Economic and Social Research Council studentship for my master's and PhD.
