MSc Nutrition for Global HealthContact Nina Firas
Growing up in Port-Gentil, Gabon, I saw first hand the consequences of infectious diseases and malnutrition which pushed me on doing a Bachelor in Public Health at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. As a young graduate, I did an internship in dietetics and clinical research in a hospital which strengthen my decision on continuing my career in nutrition. Additionally, throughout my Bachelor I got taught that malnutrition was a risk factor for many of the Public Health issues present today. It is why I decided to focus my studies in public health nutrition and made me apply to LSHTM to do the MSc Nutrition for Global Health.
Research interests or career goals
My research interests focuses on nutrition and infectious diseases in Subsaharan Africa. Throughout my career I would like to implement and manage nutrition intervention and programs.
Why I chose LSHTM/my course
I choose LSHTM for its reputation and excellent staff but mainly for the unique nutrition program offered by the School. I wanted to continue my studies in public/global health and in the same time specialise in nutrition. LSTHM was the only master combining both of my interest in one program.
