Educational/professional background
I entered the field of medicine with the aim to enhance access to healthcare for disaster affected populations. This aspiration translated into years of transnational disaster management policy development and implementation in the academic and global policy space. I carried out health emergency and disaster risk management research and education at Karolinska Institute and within the UN.
Research interests or career goals
My research interests relate to healthcare within disaster contexts, to enhance the knowledge, adapted practice and policy to ensure that healthcare delivery is adapted to the context and meets the needs.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme?
I wanted to develop my skills and knowledge related to statistical methodology. LSHTM was recommended by several practitioners within the field, both from academia and the UN. I applied due to three main reasons. Firstly the wide diversity offered when it comes to the geographical, academic and practitioners background of students and staff. Secondly, the strong experience LSHTM have on teaching, and the openness of staff to communicate with and support the students. Lastly, LSHTM's role in influencing the direction of public health and development beyond the parameters which we know about today.
Since the MSc I have started working as a research assistant at The Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, estimating COVID-19 Vaccination Immunogenicity.
