Research interests or career goals
My research interests lie in biostatistics; more specifically in cancer epidemiology. I am currently investigating methods that describe the causal effect of risk factors associated with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. A few of the methods I am reading are: survival analysis using Cox proportional hazard ratios, Age-Period-Cohort models to estimate the incidence of diagnosis, Targeted Maximum Likelihood Estimation to assess causal effect parameters, and alternating logistic regression to indicate the patient variability.
Why I chose LSHTM/my course
I chose LSHTM for a number of reasons. Firstly, it offers diversity, one of the largest; of students, courses, and opportunities. Secondly, the freedom of collaboration; within LSHTM there is a natural atmosphere of freedom to communicate within and between departments and faculties. Lastly, LSHTM is a world-leading organisation in health research, it is at the forefront of identifying hypotheses right through to implicating proposed world-wide interventions.
