Educational/professional background
I am a Lebanese dentist, specialising in Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics.
Research interests or career goals
Throughout my education in dentistry, I was impressed by the importance of dentistry in improving quality of life. I also witnessed the inequity in dental care as part of health inequity in Lebanon. I aspired to become a dentist that can bring about positive change in people’s lives, and take part in dental research to improve policies and accessibility of care. During my studies, I noticed that developing prevention and treatment programmes, implementing policies that inform the public about their role in improving oral health and addressing unequitable access to dental care relied heavily on biostatistics, epidemiology and public health.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
Enrolling in the Public Health Masters programme at LSHTM gave me a strong foundation in research by strengthening my skills in translating research questions into methodologically solid studies. I was fortunate to learn a variety of different skills that improved my ability to write and publish manuscripts in my fields of interest in public health and dentistry.
