Educational/professional background

I graduated in 2020 from the Royal Veterinary College with a Bachelor of Science in Bioveterinary Sciences. My final year dissertation was an investigation into the feasibility of a vaccination programme for Brucella in Cameroon which strengthened my interest in global public health and encouraged me to pursue a career in veterinary epidemiology.

Research interests or career goals

During my undergraduate degree I developed an understanding of how animal and human health are interlinked. I have an interest in the complexity of disease control related to zoonoses, such as brucellosis, and am particularly interested in how interventions can be implemented in a way that is appropriate both socially and culturally. I aspire to work in an international organisation where I can use my background in veterinary science to improve public health.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

As one of the world’s leading public health institutions, I felt there was no better place for me to develop my skills than LSHTM. The combined teaching from LSHTM and the Royal Veterinary College has allowed an interdisciplinary approach to epidemiology which I feel is unique to this course, and I have been able to learn from the expertise of the teaching staff while also building connections due to the diverse backgrounds of my colleagues.
