Educational/professional background
I recently earned my Bachelor of Science at Loyola University Chicago, where I studied Molecular and Cellular Biology and Molecular Neuroscience. During my time at university, I conducted research on alveolar respiratory distress in neonatal patients. After completing my studies, I spent a year working as a Clinical Research Coordinator in the Division of Genetics, Birth Defects, and Metabolism at a local hospital.
Research interests or career goals
My research interests lie in maternal and child health, as well as sexual and reproductive health in low-and-middle-income countries. Following my MSc, I plan to attend medical school in the United States, and I aspire to combine my interest in medicine with my public health education. I am passionate about exploring the social determinants of health and improving access to health care and preventative care in developing countries.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme?
I was drawn to study at LSHTM because of the large diversity in the students, facility, and staff. It has been an incredible opportunity to connect with individuals throughout the globe and learn about their unique backgrounds and experiences in the field of public health.
