MSc Global Mental HealthContact Harriet Yayra Adzofu
I trained as a psychiatric nurse with about 6 years’ experience across the various levels of health care in Ghana. I later completed a Master of Health Sciences (MHS) degree in Reproductive Health at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria where I developed a special interest in health research. Prior to my current study, I volunteered with the African Union Scientific, Technical and Research Commission (AU-STRC) to assist in the development of guidelines for clinical research in Africa.
Research interests or career goals
My research interests are women and adolescent mental health. I hope to explore social determinants of maternal and adolescent mental health to design low cost innovative interventions to promote mental health among these populations in LMICs. I am currently developing core research skills that are essential to building a career in this field. I also intend to progress into a PhD programme soon after my study.
Why I chose LSHTM/my course
LSHTM is undoubtedly the leading university in public health and has lived to its reputation so far. The MSc Global Mental Health here is best designed with fantastic content that meets my specific needs. There is enormous support to help meet students’ academic and career goals and a rare opportunity to be thought and supervised by the sector’s leading researchers.
