Educational/professsional background
I am currently on the Medical Parasitology course, but prior to this, I studied Biochemistry at the University of York, UK, and had an Erasmus placement year at the University of Strasbourg, France.
Research interests or career goals
I am interested in Plasmodium species (which cause malaria), their genetic diversity, how this has an effect on their pathogenicity, antigenicity and the clinical outcomes of malaria, and how this can be a vulnerability to advancements in diagnostics and vaccine development. I am hoping to pursue a PhD following my masters to continue working in research.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
LSHTM is renowned for its research excellence and innovation. I wanted to study at an institution where I could develop my research skills, be in a diverse academic environment and to collaborate with students and staff from around the world with a common goal: to contribute to research that will improve the lives of those suffering needlessly due to neglected diseases. I feel I’m in the best place to dedicate myself to that, in whatever way I can!
