MSc Health Policy, Planning & FinancingContact Farah Sayad
From 2013-2017, I attended New York University Abu Dhabi and graduated with a BA in Social Research & Public Policy with a minor in Peace Studies. I spent a year with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, working on priorities for healthcare sector improvement, including integrated continuum of care, emergency preparedness, enhancement of patient experience, and the development of trauma networks.
Research interests or career goals
I am interested in health system development, management, and strengthening. I am also interested in social determinants of health. I hope to combine my interests in health economics and health systems to evaluate health services and implement and assess health policies and plans.
Why I chose LSHTM/my course
I was interested in health economics, health policy, and health systems management, and the MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing was the only course I found that tackled all three subjects. The course’s multidisciplinary approach to understanding health appealed to me. I also chose the course as it is a joint program between the LSHTM and LSE, with both schools having faculty doing amazing work in health policy. Both schools also feature a diverse student body, allowing me to gain an international understanding of current and emerging public health issues.
