MSc One Health: ecosystems, humans and animalsContact Emma Walton
I graduated with a BSc Neuroscience and went on to volunteer for an Environmental Justice Journal which pushed me to explore the intersections between biomedicine and ecosystem health through the MSc One Health. From economic to microbiological analyses this course offered me the opportunity to understand complex systems of animal, human, and ecosystem health in depth.
Research interests or career goals
In the future, I would like to work in food systems research to understand how land conversion for industrialised agriculture influences disease emergence using tools such as GIS in tandem with community-centred participatory research.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you would like to know anything from adjusting to academic life in a veterinary world, life in the UK as a South African/Namibian, or about entering research as someone whose interests are wide ranging and unspecified. My broader interests span gender theory, racial justice and migration to disease and environmental heatlh so deciding which to focus on can be difficult. If you also struggle with this I'd be more than happy to help you figure it out!
