Educational/professional background

I previously completed a BSc in Biomedical Science at the University of Surrey, where I developed an interest in microbiology and infectious disease. This included a placement year working in a research lab in Montreal, where I was able to develop skills in academic research.

Research interests or career goals

Currently I am interested in the control of diseases with person to person transmission, especially sexually transmitted infections. I would like to combine this with epidemiology and surveillance to work in organisations dealing with outbreak management or emerging diseases.

Why I chose LSHTM/my course

I chose LSHTM as it has such an amazing reputation and the staff are very involved in up to date research. The course was perfect for me as I wanted to gain a broad range of skills, including microbiology, epidemiology and hands on experience. The course allows me to explore the complex nature of infectious diseases, including the social context they are set in which was not covered during my undergraduate course.
