Educational/professional background

My background is a BSc in Nursing. During my studies, I have worked in different areas and hospitals in Switzerland. After graduation, I did an internship at a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Copenhagen, Denmark. I enjoyed neonatal care a lot and went back to Switzerland to work in a NICU. This allowed me to get insight into the differences in care in different countries. Later on, I took a summer course in International Health at Copenhagen University. This has made me more interested in the public health field and motivated me to pursue an MSc in Public Health.

Research interests/career goals

Besides health and medicine, I always had an interest in the environment, especially climate change and air pollution. I want to combine my two interests and therefore chose the environment and health stream. My career goals are to get into the environmental epidemiology field and research climate change and its health impacts. Since I also have a soft spot for neonates, I would like to also focus on the environmental impacts on neonatal health.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

I chose LSHTM because it is one of the best schools for public health, and it was possible to focus on environmental health. Furthermore, the program's flexibility and ability to study from anywhere is what I needed since I move a lot.
