MSc Control of Infectious DiseasesContact Bassirou Mbacke
I have a BSc in Biology from Royal Holloway, University of London where I primarily studied Ecology and Zoology whilst exploring different facets of disease. I worked two summer internships previously, the first being at the “Institut de Recherche en Santé de Surveillance Epidemiologique et de Formation” (or IRESSEF), where I focused on malaria and COVID-19 research, and I also worked at Hôpital principale de Dakar in their medical analysis laboratory.
Research interests or career goals
My interests are in malaria and vector control, although I do not have any specific interests within these fields I hope to explore and learn more through my time at LSHTM!
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
LSHTM is a major hub for cutting edge research on NTDs, I knew that the numerous brilliant researchers and international student body would be the perfect place for me to develop my skills. As for the program, the MSc Control of Infectious Diseases felt in line with what I found interesting, I got to study a number of NTDs whilst expanding my base knowledge on disease control from more than just biological aspects.
