MSc Public Health – General streamContact Ashish Streatfield
After graduating from Pomona College with a BA in Chemistry, I worked in clinical trial research at a cancer hospital before joining the United States Peace Corps to serve as a Community Health Volunteer in the Kingdom of Eswatini. There I worked in HIV prevention and education, as well as supply chain management in a rural clinic. It was my first experience in public health and made me value health promotion and community-motivated healthcare interventions.
Research interests or career goals
I am interested in comorbidities and communicable disease, especially HIV, and hope to pursue a medical degree with the eventual goal of working as a doctor with MSF. I also have a growing interest in developing interventions to combat antimicrobial resistance.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose LSHTM because I was confident it would give me the opportunity to learn from both world-renowned experts and an incredibly diverse student body. I was also attracted to the large selection of modules and close professor-student interaction, even during the current pandemic.
