Educational/professional background

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from University of Hull and a master’s degree in Drug Discovery & Development from Imperial College London. I am currently working as an Assistant Trials Manager at King’s College London on CTIMP studies investigating a preventive treatment method for rheumatoid arthritis.

Research interests or career goals

look to expand my portfolio of CTIMP and non-CTIMP studies across a range of therapeutic areas in academia and industry. I also wish to contribute towards improving ways of bringing safe and efficacious drugs/medical devices to market. Peer reviewing for TRIALS journal and actively participating as a member of various clinical trial networks has given me the opportunity to learn about and support the diverse research taking place within the field. In the future, I hope to complete additional modules to obtain a master’s in clinical trials.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

LSHTM is a renowned and well respected institute, offering a variety of specialised courses with comprehensive modules and on-going support from experts within their fields. I chose this course to expand my knowledge and gain in-depth understanding of the various aspects of clinical trials. I look to apply the relevant theoretical knowledge to my practical day-to-day responsibilities which will enable me to conduct trials to greater scientific, ethical and regulatory standards. The Distance Learning course also provides me with the flexibility to study alongside working full-time, allowing me to manage my time constructively and enjoy self-directed learning.
