MSc Control of Infectious DiseasesContact Amelie Friedsam
I recently graduated from Maastricht University with a first-class degree in European Public Health during which I acquired a comprehensive understanding of health sciences, political sciences, social sciences, and health economics in an international context.
Research interest or career goals
I always had a special interest in the prevention and control of infectious diseases. During my Bachelor studies, I investigated the risk of increased dengue transmission in Europe in light of climate change. In the future, I would like to further pursue a specialisation in vector-borne and neglected tropical diseases. I can well imagine working internationally as a field epidemiologist or infection prevention & control officer.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
LSHTM is known for its first-class public health education and their high involvement in research all across the globe. The school also offers many great opportunities for you to become involved yourself. I chose the MSc Control of Infectious Diseases programme as it offers a vast range of modules out of which I could tailor my programme towards my own interests. The multidisciplinarity of the course equips me with the necessary skills to understand and help tackle current and future global health challenges in the field of infectious diseases.
