Educational/professional background

I graduated in 2020 from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada, with a BScH in Life Sciences and Global Development and a Mandarin Chinese certificate. Throughout my studies, I have worked in various professional and academic roles in Canada, South Korea, France and the United Kingdom.

Research interests or career goals

For as long as I can remember, my family always travelled back to our home country of South Korea for medical needs. This exposure to different healthcare systems and practices sparked my interest in examining health care delivery under different cultural contexts and measuring their effectiveness. With the rise of global travel and the increased frequency of climate change-related health consequences, I would like to investigate further how different health systems are resilient to infectious disease outbreaks.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

LSHTM is one of the most international communities in the field of public health and has a renowned reputation for educating some of the world’s top health specialists. Everybody I have met at LSHTM is so passionate about their studies and has a genuine desire to improve health using their specific skillset. I specifically chose the MSc CID for its emphasis on multidisciplinary studies and their connections to current infectious disease professionals.
