MSc Public Health – General streamContact Alexandra Molina Garcia
I graduated with a BSc in Medicine from the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Spain), and completed this cycle with a residency program in pediatrics. I joined the Doctors Without Borders team in the field to work as a Paediatrician and a Medical Activity Manager in projects in Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone and South Sudan. From these experiences I developed an imperative need to understand the health context and its determinants in low income settings to be capable of improving the provision of pediatric health care we were offering. This is the reason why I leaped into an MSc in Public Health.
Research interests or career goals
My research concerns are child health in low income settings, with special interest in situations of humanitarian crisis. Upon completion of my master’s studies in Public Health, I will target my career towards developing maternal and child health projects and policies for governmental or non-governmental health organizations.
Why I chose LSHTM/my course
Firstly, LSHTM is a world leader in public health, with increasing amount of research and experience in developing countries. Secondly, this institution has attractive learning modules that will complement my pediatric expertise. Thirdly, the students build an incredible international hub for health professionals coming from different backgrounds, making it an amazing place to learn from their experiences and establish networks.
