Educational/professional background
I am a Veterinarian trained from Nigeria. After graduating, I worked briefly as a research assistant with focus on Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus. I later worked as a Livestock Veterinarian with focus on prevention of food borne diseases to humans in Northern Nigeria. In my free time, I volunteered with an NGO in Nigeria that aims at eradicating Rabies a viral zoonosis that is 100% preventable.
Research interests or career goals
I am interested prevention of zoonotic disease and antimicrobial resistance that affect the most vulnerable populations in the world. Likewise, I am also interested in discovering practical solutions to the re-emergence of zoonosis and the various drivers that might contribute to the problem. With my background in Veterinary Medicine, I aim to pursue a career in Global Health and guiding research in infectious diseases in resource limited setting.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose LSHTM because of its prestige in public health and its record of seasoned researchers. The research work by LSHTM is leading globally in public health. I selected a Master’s degree in One Health because it focuses on analyzing the emergence of diseases holistically with focus on various drivers to the emergence of diseases.
