The information on this page relates to registration for our 2019-20 face-to-face programmes.
- What do I need to do before arriving at LSHTM to register?
Before you commence your studies, you will need to register. This is a two-step process, the first of which is to complete the online pre-registration task. All new students will be sent a personalised invitational email containing a unique link to our online pre-registration portal in early September 2019.
As part of your online registration, you will need to submit a current, ‘passport-style photo’, which will be used on your student ID card.
Please note, completion of the pre-registration task is compulsory. If you are unable to complete it before arriving at LSHTM, you will be asked to do so upon arrival, before moving on to step two – registration in person.
Please take time to explore the New Students pages. This is where you will find useful information, such as the New Student Guide, to help you settle well into your studies, as well as Registration Schedule outlining when you are expected to arrive at LSHTM to complete your registration in person.
- Where will registration and orientation take place?
Registration in person will take place in the Library of our main "Keppel Street" building. Some programme-specific sessions might also take place in "Tavistock Place" situated 5-10 mins walk from our main campus. Please make sure you check which building you need to be in.
- What do I need to bring to register at LSHTM?
As part of your registration in person, you are required to produce the following documents:
- proof of identity – passport (or EU ID card)
- any outstanding documentation required as part of your offer of admission (such as original qualification certificates, evidence of English language qualifications, evidence of financial support)
Please note that you will not be able to register without a photo ID and we cannot accept photocopies or scans of original documents.
Non-UK/EU or EEA nationals are also required to produce evidence of their immigration status (passport and visa/leave to remain).
- What happens when I arrive to complete registration?
Each degree programme has an allotted registration slot. Please check the Registration Schedule for details of when you are expected to arrive at LSHTM to complete your registration in person.
Upon arrival at the Library, providing you have completed the pre-registration task, uploaded a suitable photo for your student ID card and had your identity checked, you will be invited to collect your student ID card.
If you have not completed the pre-registration task prior to your arrival, you will be asked to do so at the IT support desk in the Library.
Following this, you will be able to complete registration.
During registration, Registry staff will then check that you have satisfied all the requirements of your offer of admission, including the arrangements for paying tuition fees.
- Can I start my degree programme if I have not achieved the required English language test score?
Unfortunately, students are not permitted to register at LSHTM unless they have provided original evidence proving that they have achieved LSHTM's required English language test score.
If you have not achieved the required score, you should contact the Admissions team (email@example.com) immediately.
Students who have not met LSHTM's minimum English language test score are strongly advised not to attempt to travel to London, as they will not be permitted to register at LSHTM and may be refused entry at the UK border.
- What happens if I am unable to attend my registration session?
If you are unable to arrive at LSHTM as scheduled, you should contact our Admissions team (firstname.lastname@example.org) as soon as possible, stating the reasons for your late arrival and your expected arrival date.
The last permitted arrival/registration date for all of LSHTM's degree programmes is Friday 27 September 2019.
Students who miss their designated registration session will be able to register in the Library Welcome Zone between 10.00 – 16.00 from Wednesday 25 September 2019 until Friday 27 September 2019.
- When should I pay my tuition fees, what do I do if I have a US loan and how can I request a receipt?
Tuition fees should be paid in full by Monday 23 September 2019. Payment instructions can be found here.
If you are yet to receive a tuition fees invoice please contact email@example.com.
US Federal Loan students will be contacted individually by our Tuition Fees team once their disbursement has been processed.
Tuition fee payment receipts can be requested from Monday 14 October 2019 by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
- When can I access the LSHTM's IT services, email account and attend classes and lectures?
Providing the online pre-registration task has been completed in full, students will be able to access LSHTM's IT services and email systems from 23 September 2019 onwards.
Students who do not complete pre-registration by this date may experience a slight delay accessing these services until the registration processes are complete and LSHTM systems have been updated.
Upon completion of LSHTM’s registration process, students are permitted to attend classes and lectures.
- How can I get a bank letter or council tax certificate?
Bank Letters will be available 11am-4pm on Wednesday and 10am-4pm Thursday & Friday in the Library. From Monday 30th September they will be available from the Student HUB.
Council tax exemption certificates can be obtained from the Student HUB from Wednesday 25 September onwards.
