Lead the world to a healthier future
In today’s constantly changing environment, we face continued challenges in health including pandemics such as the recent Ebola and Zika crises, chronic disease and antimicrobial resistance. These threats continually remind us of the crucial need for strong, dynamic and resilient leadership in global health. The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine is committed to addressing this need through the Executive Programme for Global Health Leadership.
This unique 10 month programme offers experienced health professionals the opportunity to develop their personal leadership skills and professional networks. Our dynamic workshops enhance the development of strong strategic leadership, negotiation and diplomatic skills, successfully enabling Fellows’ (participants) to have a global impact on health.
This innovative programme combines three one-week residential phases held with our high-profile partner organisations in London, Geneva and Cape Town with inter-residential components providing bespoke health-topic mentorship from expert faculty members and Executive Coaching to maximise professional and personal success. Fellows will also be able to access LSHTM distance learning modules during inter-residential phases to sharpen-up knowledge and expertise in self-selected health topics.
During the residential phases, in addition to interactive workshops, Fellows will have exceptional access to high-level health leaders who will share their unique experiences and insights, speaking candidly about the challenges they faced as well as reflection on what they might have tackled differently.
Residential phases will each have a distinct focus:

- Cape Town Residential Week: Successful implementation and delivery through systems leadership

What is the key aim?
The aim of the Executive Programme – reflecting the School’s mission to improve health and health equity worldwide – is to develop a cadre of passionate, effective leaders who, in supporting each other and being supported by the School, will together have a significant impact on health globally.
Its focus is on the particular strategic leadership skills required in the political and organisational contexts faced by leaders in health.
What are the learning objectives?
- Enhanced skills in negotiation and diplomacy in multi-sector contexts
- Increased ability to influence and empower others, within teams and organisations, to achieve ambitious, cross-sector health goals
- Improved ability to formulate, articulate and progress a viable strategic vision, supporting success in ambitious yet attainable goals for health
- Enhanced skills in powerful communication, working through different media platforms and frameworks to get vital messages heard across a range of agencies, fora and cultures
- Learning with, and from, health leaders from around the world, enhancing personal and professional global networks.
- Develop deeper insight into personal leadership and career goals, working styles and objectives to enhance resilience, flexibility and efficiency.
How are the Executive Programme Fellows assessed?
Although traditional assessments will not form part of the Executive Programme, structured activities will energise and enable learning about oneself, opportunities and leadership. In order to complete the programme, Fellows are expected to fully engage in all its elements and will receive a Certificate of Completion.

When and where does the Executive Programme take place?
The programme will run from September – June, inclusive with residential weeks in September, March and June. A summary of the structure of the programme and the themes that will be covered can be found below.
Residential Weeks 2019-20
London, England, Sunday 22 September – Friday 27 September 2019
Held in conjunction with the Centre for Global Health Security, Chatham House.
In addition to hearing from high-level health leaders about their leadership experience, Fellows will benefit from workshops, seminars and scenarios to enable them to identify personal goals, help them master the dynamics of organisations, and to understand the wider context in which they are operating. Cross-cultural similarities and differences in health leadership will be explored to deepen an understanding of how leadership theory drawn from the corporate world relates to leadership in serving the health and well-being of populations. Fellows will develop skills in the art of narration and impactful communication; vision and strategic thinking; horizon scanning for opportunities and risks; and getting things on the agenda and influencing policy.
Geneva, Switzerland – Sunday 22 March – Friday 27 March 2020
Held in conjunction with The Global Health Centre, The Graduate Institute.
During the Geneva residential week, the focus will be on health diplomacy when working across different and at times conflicting political agendas, sectors, organisations and cultures. Fellows’ will have the opportunity to attend dynamic sessions and simulations to enhance effective decision-making, diplomacy and negotiation skills. Fellows will benefit from rich opportunities to identify collaborators and enjoy high-level networking with global actors. Fellows will gain an understanding of how to operate on the global stage, aligning agendas with other international actors and global health priorities.
Cape Town, South Africa – Sunday 14 June – Friday 19 June 2020
Held in conjunction with the Health Policy and Systems Division, University of Cape Town.
The residential week in Cape Town will be focused on systems leadership, ensuring the successful implementation of projects on the ground through cross-sector engagement on health priorities. Other key themes include the building of strong personal relationships and expanding Fellows’ networks of influence.
The Residential Weeks are designed to bring Fellows together in a sharing, high-quality environment with global health leaders and talented peers, to refresh the mind and enrich strengths through engaging workshops and simulation. Accommodation, private dining with key speakers and other meals are included in the Programme fees.
Phase One: September 2019 – March 2020
Phase Two: March 2020 – June 2020
During the inter-residential phases, you will benefit from bespoke services to support your leadership initiatives and strengthen your strategic vision. Through the use of specific tools, Fellows will develop a deeper appreciation of their leadership styles, drivers, strengths and emotional intelligence. We will provide you with an individually crafted programme designed with your Leadership coach, and your LSHTM health topic mentor, supporting both technical knowledge as well as leadership practice.
This will include:
Regular expert package on health topics including emerging expert comment, latest research papers, updates on international events, as well as access to training and resources at the School. Fellows will be matched with an expert Mentor at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine to support evidence-based policy and decision-making.
Fellows will benefit from one-to-one Executive Coaching over the duration of the 10-month programme to support professional and personal development and provide a focused space for reflection about leadership resilience and practice to enhance performance.
Fellows will have unique, read-only access to up to two LSHTM distance learning modules of their choice to help strengthen their knowledge on a particular health topic
Fellows will be invited to participate in stimulating events, and benefit from activities and resources to challenge thinking, strengthen networks and enhance leadership practice.
Successful health leaders will share with Executive Programme Fellows the story of how they made a difference in activities which impacted population health on a large, at times global, scale. Listen to them speak candidly about the challenges they met - the politics, the expertise and the personal - and what, with reflection, they would want to tackle differently.

Professor Christopher Whitty
Chris Whitty is a physician and epidemiologist who works in public health, science policy and clinical medicine. From October 2019 he will be Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for England and Chief Medical adviser to the UK government. Professor of Public and International Health at LSHTM, he is currently seconded as Chief Scientific Adviser at the Department of Health and Social Care alongside his LSHTM and NHS roles. This includes leading the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and being first deputy Chief Medical Officer. Dr Andrew Bastawrous
Dr Bastawrous is an Assistant Professor in International Eye Health at LSHTM. He is co-founder of PEEK, a low-cost smartphone ophthalmic tool which was built to deliver eye care in some of the world’s most challenging places. Professor Jennifer Dixon
Dr Jennifer Dixon joined the Health Foundation as Chief Executive in October 2013. Jennifer was Chief Executive of the Nuffield Trust from 2008 to 2013. Prior to this, she was Director of Policy at The King’s Fund and was the policy advisor to the Chief Executive of the National Health Service between 1998 and 2000. Jennifer has undertaken research and written widely on health care reform both in the UK and internationally. Professor Anita Charlesworth
Anita Charlesworth is the Director of Research and Economics at the Health Foundation, and Honorary Professor in the College of Social Sciences at the Health Services Management Centre (HSMC) at the University of Birmingham. Before joining the Health Foundation in May 2014, Anita was Chief Economist at the Nuffield Trust (2010-14) where she led the Trust’s work on health care financing and market mechanisms. Mr Hugh Alderwick
Hugh joined the Health Foundation in October 2018 as Assistant Director of Strategy and Policy. Hugh previously worked at The King’s Fund as Senior Policy Adviser to the Chief Executive, where he published research and policy analysis on a range of topics –including national NHS reforms, integration of health and social care services, and opportunities to improve population health. Baroness Shas Sheehan
Baroness Shaista Ahmad Sheehan is a Liberal Democrat Peer, appointed to the House of Lords in 2015 by Nick Clegg. Since October 2016 she has been the Liberal Democrat Lords Spokesperson for International Development. Prior to that she was the Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Immigration, in which role she took a keen interest in the welfare of refugees and the push factors that have generated 65.6m refugees worldwide. Baroness Sheehan was a member of the Lords EU Select Committee’s sub-Committee on Energy and Environment from December 2015 to July 2019; currently she sits on the House of Lords select committee for Science and Technology. Elected as a local councillor for Kew ward on Richmond Borough Council in May 2006, she served as Assistant Cabinet Member for Energy and Climate Change and on a number of committees, including Planning, Health and Education. She stood for Parliament twice, in 2010 and 2015, as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Wimbledon; in 2008 and 2012 she was a Lib Dem candidate for the London Assembly. Susan is currently the Director of Public Policy Engagement at the Gavi. Douglas Bettcher, WHO
Dr Douglas William Bettcher is the Former Director the Department for Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases, World Health Organization (WHO), Geneva, Switzerland, and is now working as a senior adviser to the Director-General of WHO. He was previously the Director of WHO’s Tobacco Free Initiative Department, which became an integral programme within the new Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) Department.
Thomas Cueni, IFPMA
Since 2017, Thomas has acted as Direct General of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations. He also recently served as Vice-Chair of the European Markets Committee at the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations and represented the industry on the EU High Level Pharmaceutical Forum.
Katherine Deland, WHO
Katherine served as a Special Advisor in the Office of the Executive Director, Outbreaks and Health Emergencies and in the Office of the Director-General at WHO, focusing on the establishment of the new WHO Health Emergencies Programme. Previously she was also the Chief of Staff of WHO’s Ebola Response. She founded DeLand Associates in 2011, and also works as Senior Fellow at the Global Health Centre, the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies.
Dirk Engels, former WHO
Until his retirement last year in 2017, Dirk acted as Director for the Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases at the WHO for 3 years. Dr Engels has previously led senior delegations to negotiate with agencies and donors for resources to fund the department’s activities. He’s also worked as a medical doctor in Africa in clinical tropical medicine, public health and tropical disease control, serving mostly rural communities.
Peter Graaff, WHO
Dr Graaff is the Director of Global Initiatives for the WHO Health Emergency Programme. During the Ebola crisis, Peter was the United Nations Ebola Crisis manager for Liberia, appointed by the UN Secretary General, and also acted as the Special Representative of the Secretary General in the last phase of the UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Reponse (UNMEER). Previously, among other roles, Peter was the WHO Representative in Afghanistan.
Hossam Elsharkawi, WHO
Dr. Elsharkawi is a senior consultant with the World Health Organization (WHO, Geneva) on Field Hospitals and Emergency Medical Teams from November, 2018 to November, 2019. His work is focused on developing guidance to the principled engagement, deployment, and coordination of such teams/units in situations of armed conflict and complex emergencies. He is on a Sabbatical leave as Vice President for International Operations at Canadian Red Cross based in Ottawa, Canada. He oversees the Red Cross global emergency response to disasters and conflict, as well as recovery and longer-term development.
Fumie Griego, IFPMA
Dr Griego currently works as the Assistant Director General for the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers leading on the organisation’s work on health economics and policy. Fumie has previously worked as a senior economist in the White House’s Office of Management and Budget where she worked during both the Bush and Obama Administrations.
Roger Kampf, WTO
Roger has worked at the World Trade Organisation since 2004 and currently responsible for the Secretariat’s work in the area of public health and enforcements as well as for technical assistance in relation to intellectual property.

"Strategic leadership today requires not only an understanding of health systems but also of different political contexts. Diplomatic skills are needed to govern a complex global health arena in which health is intertwined with other sectors. The Global Health Centre at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies is delighted to host the second week of the LSHTM's Executive Programme on Global Health Leadership. Lelio Marmora, Unitaid
Lelio acts as Executive Director of Unitaid which is responsible for finding new ways to diagnose, prevent and treat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria more quickly, effectively and affordably. Lelio has worked for 25 years in organisational development, resource mobilisation and programme management for a number of international agencies.
Bernard Pécoul, DNDi
The Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) is a collaborative, patient driven, non-profit drug research and development organisation. Bernard currently leads the organisation and has done since its foundation in 2003. Prior to DNDi, Bernard was the Director of the Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) Campaign for Access to Essential Medicines and has also acted as Executive Director of MSF France.
Miguel Perez-La Plante
Miguel Perez-La Plante is counsellor at the Multilateral Division of the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations in Geneva in charge of WHO, ILO, WEF and UNESCO liaison office. He previously held the position of Head of Public Affairs at the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan. Before joining the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Miguel was a Global Leadership Fellow at the World Economic Forum.
Michael J Ryan, WHO
Dr Mike Ryan has been at the forefront of managing acute risks to global health for nearly 25 years. He served as Assistant Director-General for Emergency Preparedness and Response in WHO's Health Emergencies Programme from 2017 to 2019. Dr Ryan first joined WHO in 1996, with the newly established unit to respond to emerging and epidemic disease threats. He has worked in conflict affected countries and led many responses to high impact epidemics. He is a founding member of the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN), which has aided the response to hundreds of disease outbreaks around the world.
Peter Salama, WHO
Dr Peter Salama, a medical epidemiologist from Australia, previously led the Health Emergencies Programme at WHO from 2016 to 2019. Before joining WHO, Dr Salama was UNICEF’s Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa. Prior to these recent assignments, Dr Salama led UNICEF’s global response to Ebola, served as UNICEF Representative in Ethiopia and Zimbabwe (2009–2015), UNICEF’s Chief of Global Health and Principal Advisor on HIV/AIDS in New York (2004–2009), and UNICEF’s Chief of Health and Nutrition in Afghanistan (2002–2004).
Peter Sands, Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria
Peter Sands became Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in March 2018. Sands is the former Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered PLC, one of the world’s leading international banks operating across over 70 markets, primarily in emerging markets.
Abha Saxena, INCLEN Trust
Dr. Abha Saxena has more than fifteen years of experience in global health and research ethics, having joined WHO in 2001. She managed the research ethics programme and the Research ethics review committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) from 2002 to 2018, and coordinated the Global Health Ethics team from 2013 to 2018. As the coordinator of Global Health Ethics team, she led the development of numerous normative documents and guidelines, established a public health ethics consultative group for WHO staff members, liaised with international organizations also working in the area of bioethics, and provided leadership to the Research ethics review committee of WHO. Following her transition from the World Health Organization (WHO) in May 2018, Dr. Saxena has focused her attention to training, and research in global bioethics, and following her interest in the ethics of health systems research, human challenge studies, and of new technologies such as gene editing, big data and AI and neuro-technological advances. She has concurrent affiliation to the INCLEN Trust International, an international network of clinical epidemiologists, based in New Delhi, and University of Geneva where she is an Invited Professor.
Bernhard Schwartlander, WHO
Dr Schwartlander works as the Chef de Cabinet in the WHO Director-General’s Office. Previous to this, he has served as WHO’s representative in China and has acted as United Nations Country Coordinator on AIDS in Beijing.
Gaudenz Silberschmidt, WHO
Gaudenz is currently the Director for Partnerships and Non-state actors and the Director of Coordinated Resource Mobilisation at the WHO. He has advised the Director-General of WHO on reform issues since 2012 and has previously acted as the Ambassador of the International Affairs Division of the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health.
Chichi Umesi, SDG Lab
Chichi Umesi is an Advisor to the SDG Lab and providing expertise on partnership building, stakeholder investment and implementation of the SDGs at the country level. She is a career Diplomat with valuable public and private sector experience. Since joining the Nigerian Foreign Service in 2008, she has worked in a wide field spanning public policy and strategy, research, communications, political and economic affairs (including intellectual property matters), cooperation for development and global institutions.
Sanne Wendes, Unitaid
Sanne Wendes is Chief of Staff at Unitaid and has over 15 years of experience in global public health. In her role, she leads on various strategic workstreams. This has included leading the development of Unitaid’s five-year strategy 2017-2021 and its new operating model, which strengthens Unitaid’s alignment with other strategic partners in the global response to HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, and increases the speed and quality of its grant making process. Sanne also represents Unitaid in different policy fora, including on the Inter-Agency Coordination Group (IACG) on AMR and as Sherpa for the SDG3 + Global Action Plan.
Marijke Wijnroks, Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria
Marijke Wijnroks became Chief of Staff at the Global Fund in 2013. From June 2017 through February 2018, she served as Interim Executive Director. Her distinguished career includes more than 30 years of experience in global health and development, serving in government, at the United Nations and in civil society, and working in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe. Since joining the Global Fund, Dr. Wijnroks has had a particular focus on gender and human rights, and on engaging diverse partners in the cause of global health.

Max Price, University of Cape Town
Mr Price took up the post of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Town in July 2008. He is chair of the African Research Universities Alliance, past chair of Worldwide Universities Network, and on the executive of Universities South Africa. From 1996 to 2006, Dr Price was dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand. Dr Price has degrees from the universities of the Witwatersrand (Medicine), Oxford (BA), and London (Public Health) and has published extensively in the fields of public health policy and health science education.
Nomafrench Mbombo, Western Cape Minister of Health
Nomafrench previously worked in provincial and local government health departments in the Eastern Cape and KZN respectively. Dr Mbombo is currently the Western Cape Minister of Health. Before moving into this portfolio, she was the Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs & Sport.
Rael Futerman, Hasso Plattner Institute of Design Thinking
Rael is a Programme Manager at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design Thinking at the University of Cape Town. His areas of specialisation include Industrial Design, Participatory Design and Design-led Innovation. Rael has worked as an educator and Programme Manager within the Industrial Design department of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), and a consultant and researcher in the academic and corporate sectors. As part of his academic research he has worked with a range of communities, both nationally and internationally, in the co-design of context responsive design methods and outputs.

Melvin is a medical doctor and MBA graduate. He is a senior lecturer at UCT where he lectures on Finance, Supply Chain Management and Operations Management. He has particular interests in organisational performance and Lean Management. Melvin is currently Head of Victoria Hospital in the Western Cape.

Ayanda Ntsaluba, Discovery Limited
Ayanda was appointed as a Group Executive Director of Discovery Limited in July 2011. Before joining Discovery he served as a Deputy Director-General for Policy and Planning in the National Department of Health from 1995-1998, and as Director-General of Health in South Africa from September 1998 to August 2003. In September 2003, Ayanda was appointed Director-General of Foreign Affairs (now known as DIRCO) of the Republic of South Africa – a task he performed until March 2011. He currently also serves as a non-executive Board member of South African tourism and a Member of the Board of Trustees of the South African National Aids Trust.
Marcus Low, Spotlight
Marcus is the editor of Spotlight, a South African print and online magazine that focuses on public health. He previously worked as the head of policy, communications and research at the Treatment Action Campaign, a membership-based organisation that advocates for the rights and interests of people living and affected by HIV and TB. His advocacy work included campaigns on health care systems dysfunction, HIV and TB policy, political accountability, and intellectual property and access to medicines.
Vuyiseka Dubula-Majola, African Centre for HIV/AIDS Management
Vuyiseka is the Director of the Africa Centre for HIV/AIDS Management (University of Stellenbosch). She has been openly living with HIV for eighteen years, and has been the leader of people living with HIV through serving on South African National AIDS Council (SANAC). She was a member of the UNAIDS High Level Commission on HIV Prevention (2010), and has served on the Lancet national commission for high quality health system (since 2017).
Beth Engelbrecht, Western Cape Government
Beth is currently the Head of Health at the Western Cape Government. Previously she has held positions including that of Regional Director for the National Department of Health and has also served as a consultant for the Health Systems Trust
Nikki Stein, SECTION27
Nikki is a member of the Johannesburg Bar and works as in-house counsel at SECTION27, a public interest law centre based in Johannesburg. She is involved in cases on the right of access to health care services and the right to basic education. These cases include the Limpopo textbooks litigation and the Life Esidimeni tragedy, as well as several other cases to advance the rights of the poor and marginalised. Prior to joining the Bar, Nikki worked as an attorney at SECTION27, focusing on the right to basic education.
Danielle Manuel, Western Cape Government
In 2014, Danielle was selected as Mandela Washington Fellow which is the flagship programme of President Obama's Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI). She is currently employed at the Western Cape Government, Department of Transport of Public works as a Director responsible for Infrastructure Policy and Strategy.
Thulani Masilela, Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation
Thulani is an Outcome Facilitator in the Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) in the Presidency. An Outcome Facilitator is a Technical Advisor tasked with ensuring the achievement of the outcomes (i.e. strategic priorities) that government has selected for each term of office. Mr Masilela is responsible for facilitating Outcome 2: A Long and Healthy Life for all South Africans.
Ayanda Ntsaluba, Group Executive Director of Discovery Limited
Ayanda Ntsaluba holds a medical degree from the University of Natal, specialized in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, an MSc in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the University of London, and an Executive MBA from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town. Before joining Discovery in 2011, he served as a Deputy Director-General for Policy and Planning in the National Department of Health from 1995-1998, and as Director-General of Health in South Africa from September 1998 to August 2003. In September 2003, Ayanda was appointed Director-General of Foreign Affairs (now known as DIRCO) of the Republic of South Africa – a task he performed until March 2011.

As ADG at WHO, Daisy was responsible for providing leadership of the following departments of the Family and Community Health cluster. Prior to her appointment at WHO, Daisy was a diplomat with the rank of Minister at the Permanent Mission of South Africa in Geneva. Her experience as a diplomat complements her substantial public health, management and organizational development experience nationally and internationally. A visionary, strategic thinker with the ability to work with people from diverse social, cultural and professional backgrounds, Daisy is currently a senior consultant at VUCA Institute of Leadership Development, focusing on training, leadership development and research.
Keith Cloete, Chief Director, Metro District Health Services, Western Cape Government
Keith Cloete is a medical doctor by training, who completed his medical degree at the University of Cape Town in 1988, and subsequently obtained post-graduate diplomas in Child Health and Health Management. He has worked as a primary care clinician and a school health medical officer in the Cape Metro Health District until 1996, when he became a health programme manager in the then Metro Regional Office of the Western Cape Health Department. He was the Western Cape director: HIV/AIDS and TB from 2003 to 2007, and has been the Chief Director: Metro District Health Services since 2007. He has recently been involved with the development of the Healthcare 2030 strategy of the Western Cape Department of Health, and provides oversight on significant health system reform initiatives as part of the senior management team of the Department of Health.

The Centre on Global Health Security at Chatham House is working in partnership to host The London Residential Week. The Centre examines key global health challenges and how they manifest themselves as foreign policy and international affairs problems.

The University of Cape Town is Africa’s top research-led university. It is home to a large number of world-ranked researchers, and is renowned for its teaching and learning excellence, as well as for its commitment to engaging with society’s challenges through research and active citizenship.
What are the fees?
The fees are £29,000 for the 10-month programme, which includes three intensive residential weeks in London, Geneva and Cape Town. This fee includes health expert mentorship and Executive Coaching over the ten months, as well as accommodation, other meals, and transport within the residential weeks (Sunday evening to Friday lunchtime), and includes all educational materials. Upon receiving a letter of offer for a place for the September 2019 cohort, successful candidates are asked to pay a £10,000 part-payment of fees within a period of three weeks. Successful candidates can pay fees in full at any time, with a deadline for payment in full in our accounts to be made by 19 July 2019. Travel arrangements (flights/transfers/visa/travel insurance/vaccination costs) to and from the Residential Weeks in London, Geneva and Cape Town are the responsibility of the Fellow, and are not included in the fees. We urge potential participants to explore total costs before applying to the programme.
Are there any scholarships?
Unfortunately, scholarships are not currently available.
What is the policy for refunds and cancellations?
We recommend that applicants do not purchase non-refundable airline ticket(s) until they have received confirmation of a place on the Executive Programme. The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is not able to help with losses due to cancellation of flights, delays with visas or insurance, or any other personal costs incurred by registrants.
The School cannot provide refunds of fees should an applicant need to withdraw from the Programme after the fee deadline date. Payment cannot be deferred to other intakes. Should the Programme not go ahead for any reason, a full reimbursement of any payments made for the Programme will be provided.
We aim to provide final confirmation of the running of the programme once the payment deadline has passed in July 2019. The School may cancel courses two weeks before the first day of the course if numbers prove insufficient. In this unlikely situation, course fees will be refunded. The School cannot accept responsibility for accommodation, travel and other losses incurred as a result of a course being cancelled.

Who is eligible to apply?
The Executive Programme for Global Health Leadership is designed for emerging, and established, health leaders. We will be recruiting individuals who can demonstrate leadership roles in their work. These individuals may be aspiring, or transitioning, to significant leadership positions where they will impact the health of populations.
Previously, Executive Programme Fellows have included those working in Ministries of Health, NGOs, and other organisations tackling current and future health challenges on the national, regional or global scale. We aim to develop a cadre of passionate, effective leaders who, in supporting each other and being supported and challenged by the School, will together have a significant impact on health across the globe.
The Programme is delivered in English, and thus, written and spoken English, is required.
