Applications deadlines

London-based Master's degrees

The final closing date for taught Master’s applications for entry in the 2017/18 academic year is as follows:

  • 31 July 2018 by 23:59 (BST) for international applicants requiring a Tier 4 Student Visa, and
  • 21 August 2018 by 23:59 (BST) for applicants not requiring a Tier 4 Student Visa.

We recommend that you submit applications as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Programmes may close after an application has been received but before an application has been considered. Please note that there will be a late application fee for MSc applications received on or after 1 June 2018*.

*Late Application Fee

Applicants who submit applications for Master's degrees only on or after 1 June 2018 will be required to pay an application fee of £100 at the point of submission, which will be deducted from the balance of fees payable upon registration. If the application does not result in registration, the application fee will not be refunded. No application fee will apply to applications submitted on or before 31 May 2018.

MPhil/PhD Programmes

Applications for MPhil/PhD research degrees are considered throughout the year. However, there are only three fixed entry points when candidates are permitted to register. These entry points are on the first day of each academic term.  Each entry point has a corresponding application cut-off date:

  • JANUARY 2018 ENTRY
    21 November 2017
by 23:59 GMT for 8 January 2018 entry

  • APRIL 2018 ENTRY
    12 February 2018
by 23:59 GMT (for international applicants requiring a Tier 4 Student Visa) for 16 April 2018 entry
26 February 2018 by 23:59 GMT (for applicants not requiring a Tier 4 Student Visa) for 16 April 2018 entry

  • SEPTEMBER 2018 ENTRY
    23 July 2018
by 23:59 BST (for international applicants requiring a Tier 4 Student Visa) for 24 September 2018 entry
6 August 2018 by 23:59 BST (for applicants not requiring a Tier 4 Student Visa) for 24 September 2018 entry.

If you submit a complete application by the cut-off date we will start to process it for the next entry point (unless you have said you want a later start date).  This does not necessarily mean that you will get an offer in time to start at the next entry point. Most applications will take much longer than this to go through the admissions process. If starting at a particular time is important to you please do not wait until the cut-off date to apply. Applying weeks or months ahead is strongly encouraged and increases the chances of getting an offer in good time. The above advice applies equally to applications from LSHTM staff.

DrPH

Applications for the DrPH programme are considered throughout the year but there is only one fixed entry point which is at the start of the autumn term.

For 24 September 2018 entry, the cut-off dates* for application submission are:

  • 23 July 2018 by 23:59 BST for international applicants requiring a Tier 4 Student Visa
  • 6 August 2018 by 23:59 BST for applicants not requiring Tier 4 Student Visa

If you submit a complete application by a cut-off date, we will start to process this for the next entry point.  However, please note that this does not guarantee that you will receive an Offer of Admission in time to register at the next entry point. Most applications will take much longer than this to go through the full admissions process. Consequently, we strongly recommend that you apply at the earliest opportunity if starting at a particular entry point is important to you - please do not wait until the cut-off date to apply. Applying months ahead is strongly encouraged and increases the chances of getting an Offer of Admission in good time. The above advice applies equally to applications submitted by LSHTM staff
