Research themes provide the main structure of CMMID. They aim to facilitate collaboration among like minded researchers within LSHTM and beyond. 

Within CMMID mathematical models are used to:

• Understand the natural history and epidemiology of infectious diseases
• Predict the course of epidemics
• Assess different policy options

We also conduct methodological research on:

• New statistical approaches to fit complex models to data
• New methods to survey hard to reach populations
