Why women are central to conflict resolution and humanitarianism: Baroness Valerie Amos
Baroness Valerie Amos, Director of SOAS and former Undersecretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the United Nations, will deliver this year's Women in Health lecture, followed by an informal discussion with Professor Anne Mills about her career, work-life balance and the decisions she has made.
It will be interpreted into British Sign Language.

Women in Health lectures
Inspired by Athena SWAN, the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine has established a prestigious lecture series to highlight the work of women in research. The lectures are held annually and are given by women who have made a significant contribution to global health research and policy during their careers.
The focus of the lectures is on the speaker's career and how her gender has influenced the decisions she has taken, identifying lessons that are broadly applicable to other people's career choices and pathways in research and policy.
