Dr Fatima Mir: The 2019 Pakistan HIV outbreak: lessons learnt

The talk will give a brief history of the background of HIV in Larkana, how the current outbreak unfolded, the results of the case control study looking at its possible causes and what the results mean in terms of health systems capacity building and accountability.

Prof Gita Ramjee: What's up with women? Why are we not seeing a drop in HIV incidence in South Africa?

In this seminar, Prof Ramjee from the Aurum Institute in South Africa, reflects on her work in addressing the HIV epidemic among women in South Africa. Decades of research show that despite numerous biomedical and behavioral interventions, high HIV infection rates are sustained over time. She will provide insights into some of the challenges in addressing the HIV epidemic among women in South Africa.
