The US Elections: what are the implications for global health?

Global Health Lab*

The outcome of the 2016 Presidential Elections in the United States of America will have significant implications for global health whichever candidate wins. With an annual spend of around $10 billion, the US government has the largest absolute overseas aid budget for health and is a key international player in global health, shaping many key programmes and policies. This Global Health Lab will reflect on President Obama’s legacy in this field and look ahead to what the next President may bring, and the potential global health ramifications of populist campaigning around a more isolationist approach to foreign policy.

Chairs:
Martin McKee, ECOHOST, LSHTM and Richard Horton, The Lancet

Speakers:
Sophie Harman, QMUL and Stefan Elbe, Sussex
