Professor Tariq Sadiq, University of London and St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 

Tariq Sadiq is Professor of Molecular Medicine at St George’s, University of London and Consultant Physician at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Following medical graduation  at Southampton University and post-graduate professional training he obtained his MD from University College London investigating the impact of bacterial sexually transmitted infections on HIV antiretroviral resistance in systemic and genital tract compartments. His current research interests include pathogenesis and genomics of STIs, the development and evaluation of diagnostic technologies for rapid antimicrobial resistance detection and novel bioinformatic approaches for implementing rapid surveillance of STIs. He directs the Applied Diagnostic Research and Evaluation Unit at St George’s and Public Health England, which develops and evaluates novel diagnostics and surveillance tools from early development, through regulatory approval and clinical effectiveness studies.  

Dr Joanna Copping, Bristol City Council   

Jo trained in medicine at Nottingham University and then qualified as a GP in London in 1998. She worked in general practices across the south coast, central London and Nottingham before embarking on public health training. She qualified as consultant in public health medicine in 2007 and has had held posts at the Government Office for the East Midlands, Camden Primary Care Trust, Nottingham City Primary Care Trust and Nottingham City Council. She moved to the public health team in Bristol City Council in the autumn of 2014.  

As a consultant Jo has had a number of lead public health roles; drugs and alcohol, mental health, children’s health, prison health, migrant health, healthcare public health, clinical governance, academic public health, health intelligence and needs assessments. Her current areas of work include leading for sexual health and HIV - with responsibility for commissioning sexual health services from both primary and secondary care and leading on sexual health and HIV improvement across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG). She has a lead role also in population health improvement and works closely with colleagues within the BNSSG Integrated Care System.  

Outside of work Jo enjoys pottery, swimming and interior design and lives in Bristol with her husband, 3 children and puppy. 

Meaghan Kall, UK Health Security Agency 

Meaghan is lead epidemiologist in the UKHSA COVID-19 Vaccines and Epidemiology Division and in her spare time she explains epidemiological data on Twitter. Prior to COVID-19, she worked for 10 years in national HIV surveillance and established Positive Voices, a national HIV patient survey.
