Seminar

Patriarchy = Poverty

An extra-curricular seminar on a new national measure of the homophobic (patriarchal) climate and what it correlates with. LSHTM researcher and article co-author Marc D’Elbee will introduce the construction of the scale and its initial findings. Plenty of time to dissect and debate.

Marc joined the school in 2016. Between 2016 and 2017 he worked on the STAR project (HIV Self-Testing AfRica) aiming to inform the introduction of oral HIV self-testing (HIVST) in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. During the phase 1, he supported the design of discrete choice experiments to understand potential user's preferences for various models of HIVST distribution and linkage to care following a positive self-test. During STAR phase 2 (2018 and 2019), he will support the coordination of costing studies in South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland to increase the evidence base on different programme implementation options for policymakers.

Marc also work as a consultant for UNAIDS (most recent project: Analysis of market dynamics on HIV drugs exports in UNAIDS fast track countries from main ARV generic producers).
