Medicine & the Media - The medical industrial complex, cold water swimming and humanitarian emergencies
Chris and Xand Van Tulleken, medical doctors, LSHTM alumni and identical twins who have presented numerous popular science series on the BBC, (also a recent West End Show based on their BAFTA-winning children’s medical series) will be talking about their experiences of media work to address topical public health challenges. They will illustrate this through recent projects including: “The doctor who gave up drugs”; a BMJ piece on “Overdiagnosis and industry influence: how cow’s milk protein allergy is extending the reach of infant formula manufacturers"; about how humanitarian efforts can be operationalised to serve political ends.
