Hitting the High Notes

The Centre for History in Public Health will be showcasing Dr Sally Marlow, public engagement fellow from Kings College London. Sally came to one of the Centre’s film showings of The Narcotic Farm, a film about addiction treatment at Lexington Kentucky.

Many jazz musicians passed through and were treated there. She was inspired to develop her own research on heroin and Jazz in the US and has recenty fronted a Radio 3 programme on the subject based on her travels and interviews in the U.S. All inspired by the Centre initially.

During her talk, Sally will play some of the recordings and talk about how she came to do the work.
