Genomic investigations of human innate immune regulation in response to microbial stimuli

The innate immune system has a small number of common immune signalling molecules, such as NF-κB transcription factor, and yet there are apparently diverse responses that are specific to individual pathogens. Genomic tools are beginning to unravel this complexity through investigations of the transcriptome, transcription binding sites, chromatin re-organization and genomic DNA variation. In this talk, Martin will pull together three of his recent publications looking at these genetic variations and describe innate immune responses that alter the expression of genes that respond to infectious stimuli. This work seeks to identify mechanisms that lead to successful (and unsuccessful) responses to infection.

This seminar will be delivered by Professor Martin Hibberd, Professor of Emerging Infectious Diseases in the department of Pathogen Molecular Biology, at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

Please take note that this seminar will NOT be livestreamed/recorded.
