Documentary & facilitated discussion: The People's Emergency Briefing

During London Climate Action Week, join us at LSHTM for a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing and a discussion on climate action in the UK.

LSHTM Centre on Climate Change & Planetary Health Event

Join us at LSHTM during London Climate Action Week for a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing, a 50-minute documentary exploring the interconnected environmental and social challenges shaping our world from a UK perspective. The film brings together scientific evidence and lived experience to pose urgent questions about the future.

Following the screening, there will be a facilitated discussion open to all, exploring the role of individuals, communities, researchers and their institutions in responding to these challenges. In this discussion we will reflect on themes from the film, the relationship between science and action, and the different ways people can engage with change.

The discussion will be facilitated by Jeff Waage, a Professor at LSHTM whose work has focused on global challenges at the intersection of health, environment, food systems, and sustainable development. Alongside his academic work, Jeff is involved with Scientists for XR, a group of scientists who support Extinction Rebellion’s call for non-violent direct action to confront climate and ecological breakdown.

This screening is hosted by the Planetary Health Network, a group within the Centre on Climate Change and Planetary Health led by early career researchers. The event is part of their Planetary Health Conversations series, consisting of regular in-person activities that aim to promote open discussion and social connection.
