Dissection of flagellar function using CRISPR-CAS9 knockout screens

Beyond conventional knockout strategies in Leishmania: Dissection of flagellar function using CRISPR-CAS9 knockout screens

Working in the laboratory of Eva Gluenz, Tom Beneke has developed a CRISPR/Cas9 based system for rapid and high-throughput mutagenesis of Leishmania and other kinetoplastids. The system allows for generation of null mutants, or the addition of various tags to proteins of interest.

During his talk, Tom will describe the application of this system to the dissection of the flagellar proteome of this medically important parasite.
