As Senior Manager for the COVID-19 Hygiene Hub, I lead on our partnership work and support the overall management and coordination of hub activities.
I have a background in biology with a PhD in infectious disease immunology from LSHTM. Following postdoctoral work on TB and water-borne parasites, I moved into research funding and management. At the Wellcome Trust, I provided advice on infectious disease and public health programmes and managed the secretariat of the global pandemic preparedness initiative ISARIC. For the UK’s Economic and Social Research Council, I led on DFID-supported research programmes on economic growth, poverty alleviation, health systems research and zoonotic diseases. In my most recent role as Global Head of Science for the British Council, I oversaw a large portfolio of bilateral and multilateral capacity building and partnership programmes with governments and research institutions in low- and middle-income countries across Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East.
In addition to my current assignment with the Hygiene Hub, I also provide consultancy services to not-for-profit organisations and the public sector, including on programme management, monitoring and evaluation, partnership and consortium development, business development and capacity strengthening for international development, research and innovation.
