I am a Research Assistant currently working in the Environmental Health Group, a multidisciplinary group which is focused on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) related research. I hold a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Portsmouth and an MSc in Medical Microbiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. After the completion of my MSc, I remained in the teaching lab as a demonstrator, assisting with the teaching of the course and preparing bacterial and viral cultures for laboratory practical classes.

In February 2021, I joined the Allen Group where I was involved in an environmental surveillance project, looking at viral pathogens (such as SARS CoV-2 and Norovirus) in wastewater and sewage samples. This project aimed to help the understanding of how SARS-CoV-2 RNA entering the sewage system relates to the presence of COVID-19 in the community inform on hotspots and early detection of future outbreaks.

I am currently involved in numerous research projects within the EHG, including TISA, SAM Relapse and UIF, where I am using Taqman Array Cards to detect a wide range of enteric pathogens, including viruses, bacteria and parasites in samples from LMIC.  My main research interests include the detection and quantification of viral and enteric pathogens in the environment, as well as understanding their transmission.
