Following an MSc in Medical Statistics in 1993, Craig took up a research post within the Faculty of Epidemiology & Population Health focussing on the analyses of large-scale observational cancer studies. His first education management role was in 1999 becoming Course Director for the MSc in Medical Statistics. In 2006 he was appointed to the post of Faculty Taught Course Director, overseeing all aspects of the faculty’s education provision, and inputting into the School’s overall educational operations and strategy. In 2015 he took on the role of Associate Dean of Education (Technology-Enhanced Learning) responsible for the School’s use of digital technologies in its education provision, including its roadmap for MOOCs and Open Educational Resources. In 2020 appointed as the Pro Director Education. This role has responsibility for leading the strategic development, enhancement and delivery of the education programmes, encompassing Masters, Doctoral and CPD provision, delivered face-to-face in London and the MRC Units in The Gambia and Uganda, and via digital learning.

Research
Research interests in cancer and food and water borne disease, in particular gastrointestinal illness. Projects have included mortality and cancer risks among children with cytogenetic abnormalities; mortality and cancer risks following chemo- and radiotherapy treatment; risks of Creutzfelt Jacob Disease (CJD) among children treated with human pituitary growth hormone; risk factors for campylobacter; and risks of salmonella infection from pigs.
