Matt is a PhD student in Julius Hafalla's research group.

The focus of his research is understanding the basic immunology of the host to the pre-erythrocytic stages of malaria. This comprises identification of novel protective CD8+ T cell epitopes, to inform vaccine development, and characterise those derivative antigens. Matt is also researching the role and responses of the innate immune system following malarial infection.

Prior to joining LSHTM, Matt graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from University of Nottingham.
