Research Fellow
of Health Economics
I am a research fellow in health economics in the Deartment of Global Health and Development. I received medical training in Indonesia. After working as a general physician for two years in rural Indonesian, I developed an interest in health economics. I received my master's degree from Tulane University (2014) and received a Gaylord Cummins Outstanding MPH Student Award. I completed my PhD at University of York, evaluating the impact of social health insurance in Indonesia on access to care, financial protection, and health outcome.
My general research interests cover:
- health financing in low- and middle-income countries
- impact evaluation studies using non-randomised study design
- scoping and systematic review in health care setting
- quantitying the prevalence of illicit practices in health care facilities

I am a seminar leader of Introduction to Health Economics module. I am a tutor for students on the MSc Health Policy, Planning, and Financing (HPPF), run jointly by LSHTM and LSE.
After participating in York Learning and Teaching Awards (YLTA) 2016/17, I am registered as a Associate Fellow of Higher Education Academy (UK).
Research
I am currently working in the Lancet Commission of Global Health on financing primary health care (PHC). Specific area of research includes:
- Determinants of PHC spending
- Financing approach of integrated care
- Survey of PHC organisation and provider payment
- The implementation of capitation payment
- Health financing arrangement to support digital technology in health
- Multiple funding stream
I am also working on another project called Accountability in Action, where I am responsible in conducting a global analysis of the effect of corruption on population health outcomes. I am also assisting in designing and analysing a household survey in Nigeria (Kano and Enugu) and Malawi to estimate the prevalence of illicit practices in health care facilities
