Jaya is a child development research fellow and the co-ordinator for the EN-SMILING study which looks at the developmental follow up of children in Bangladesh, Nepal and Tanzania (a nested project within the EN-BIRTH study).

She has worked across sub-saharan Africa for the last six years, initially training health workers to use a variety of tools to assess child development and then managing an early child development substudy for a large WASH and Nutrition Trial (The SHINE Trial) in Zimbabwe. She is also a lead trainer for the Malawi Developmental Asssessment Tool.
