Profile: Francesca Woodburn

Francesca Woodburn from the UK studied the MSc Reproductive & Sexual Health Research

"Before coming here I was rather anxious because my background is in arts and social sciences. I thought my lack of medical training would be a real handicap. My anxieties were unfounded. One of the most striking things about the School is its diversity, not only of cultural backgrounds, but also of academic disciplines, and this diversity is what makes the School such an interesting and truly educational establishment. Discussions are never dull! But aside from this the School has so munch to offer - great facilities and excellent teaching along with supportive and approachable staff.

I came to Reproductive & Sexual Health Research in order to broaden my understanding of research methodologies and during my year I have been equipped with the theoretical background and practical tools to enable me to go on, with confidence, to carry out research in my chosen field - the cultural aspects of HIV/STI transmission dynamics. I have had a wonderful year and would encourage anyone reading this to do all you can to get here!"

Soha Patel and Jocelyn Hawkins also studied the MSc Reproductive & Sexual Health Research
