Profile: Lena Fadda
Lena Fadda from Great Britain Studied MSc Immunology of Infectious Diseases
I completed the MSc in Immunology of Infectious Diseases in September 2005 at LSHTM. I would highly recommend the course to anyone interested in Immunology and thinking of doing a PhD afterwards either in Immunology or a related subject. The teaching was of a very high standard and we covered a broad range of subject areas within the first term. Although a lot of diverse topics were covered, the tutorials and support from the staff was such that it was not overwhelming and staff were always on hand to answer any questions we had. After getting up to speed in the General Immunology module, the Advanced Immunology course after Christmas involved critiquing current research and writing a grant proposal. This module was certainly challenging, but perhaps the best aspect of the course. The skills learnt here have certainly helped me during my PhD. I opted to do the extended project in a lab at Oxford University. As always, through coursework our progress was monitored and although I was not at LSHTM for the project support was always at hand when I needed it. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and would recommend it highly. I truly believe that it certainly made the transition to a PhD much easier!
