Rachel Brown from the UK studied for the MSc in Health Promotion Sciences [now Public Health (Health Promotion)]
"I came to LSHTM after completing my Human Sciences degree at Oxford, having volunteered extensively in the AIDS sector and working as a carer for people with physical disabilities. From the outset, the interdisciplinary and practical nature of the course impressed me, with the emphasis on applying what you learn to the real world. This is achieved through lectures, seminars and group-work, with the latter providing a completely new and welcome avenue for my personal learning! On an academic and social level, the opportunity to mix with, and learn from, students from all over the world is a key feature of the School.
My time here has proved inspirational, and I will be moving to work in health in Ghana after the completion of my course."
