Kristof Bostoen from Belgium studying for a PhD in the Department of Infectious & Tropical Diseases

"I chose my supervisor and the School came with him. The LSHTM gets its prestige from the individuals working here, and completely opposing ideas are allowed to be developed side by side.

The LSHTM has a lot of prestige which has positive sides but some less so. The best part is that you get quickly in touch with world authorities in your field but the pressure of doing good research is sometimes difficult to deal with. This is does not come only from the institution but also from peers. However, the professors and lecturers are very accessible and you become quickly a full member of the institution for the duration of your PhD and often even after graduation. It is challenging to be part of the LSHTM."

Tamer Abdelaziz-Rabie is also studying for a PhD in the Department of Infectious & Tropical Diseases
