Profile: Agapitus Kato Babumba

Agapitus Kato Babumba from Uganda studied for the MSc Biology & Control of Disease Vectors

"I have always been interested in saving lives. Pursuing a BSc in Zoology, Botany and Psychology at Makerere University, Uganda helped me develop a career in vector control. Working with African Trypanosomiasis control in Uganda as an entomologist, inspired me to search for greater knowledge of the biology and control of vectors. The name 'London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine' on the Internet sounded the right place, and it surely has been. The range of vectors and diseases covered, the detail given, the teaching methods and facilities, the practical experience and the support given by the staff were beyond my expectations. The Biomedical Scholarship given to me was a stepping stone to getting another scholarship. The quality of the relationships between students and staff and among students from cultures across the world makes the School a great learning environment and a home away from home. The friends I have made will always form a global family in my life."
