For Registered PhD Students
University of London Central Research Fund
"Since its inception in 1937 the Central Research Fund has given substantial aid to many members of this University working on research projects. The Committee defines research as a major piece of work leading to the advancement of knowledge by original enquiry, which is normally followed by publication. Grants may be awarded for, or as a contribution towards, expenses incurred in undertaking a specific project of research, e.g. for a special piece of equipment, for a journey, for the cost of xeroxing or microfilming source material, or for additional costs of maintenance away where these exceed costs of maintenance at home."
For further information on the fund and on how to apply, please visit the University of London website.
The Allan & Nesta Ferguson Trust
Postgraduate PhD students, whether from overseas or from the UK, may be awarded a grant to help meet tuition costs, but only in respect of the last year of their course. Grant cheques will not be paid to the applicant but to the University.
Application forms and further information is available from The Ferguson Trust website.
