CDLs are operated on behalf of the Department of Employment by Barclays, The Co-operative and Royal Bank of Scotland. The loan can be used to cover up to 80 percent of course fees plus up to 100 percent of any related expenses. Please note that applications for Career Development Loans must be submitted to the Registry, LSHTM, for certification before they will be considered. Full details of the Scheme and application forms are available from any of the participating banks, by calling Freephone 0800 585 505 or from the CDL Website.

Colt Foundation Fellowships

Description: The Foundation awards Fellowships each year to a small number of students for research into some aspects of occupational or environmental medicine. The research would be expected to lead to a PhD degree. The award covers tuition fees and stipend. Further details can be found on the foundation's website: www.coltfoundation.org.uk

Eligibility: UK and Overseas students are eligible to apply.

How to apply: Applications from prospective students should include an outline of the proposed research, a CV, a detailed letter of support from the proposed supervisor and the contact details of two referees. The application must be submitted by the student personally and not by their supervisor on their behalf. Fellowships are awarded in competition, and the outline must therefore contain sufficient detail to enable the selection panel to determine that the work has been well-designed, the work is worthwhile and can be completed in the three-year period, and to enable the panel to decide which students should be interviewed. More information about this scholarship can be found here

Applications have now closed for 2011/12 and we hope to offer them again in 2012/13. For queries, please check our website or email: jackie.douglas@uk.coltgroup.com.
