Hospital Infection (IDM205)
Aims
The aim of this module is to give students the necessary knowledge to be able to develop a strategy to prevent hospital infections. If presented with infected patients, the students would know what clinical samples should be collected and how the information derived from them could be used to inform a strategy for the prevention of hospital infection.

15 credits are offered on successful completion of this module.
Prerequisites and Selection
Those wishing to study this module should have regular access to the internet to benefit from library facilities, participate in web-based conference discussions and submit assignments.
To benefit fully from this module those who register for it are strongly recommended either to be currently working in or to have previously worked in a hospital. The type of hospital is unimportant. Students should have a prior knowledge of basic biochemistry, cell biology, genetics and immunology in order to be able to work through and benefit fully from this module.
