Start of Course and Registration
What happens at the start of the course?
The first week of the course (from Monday 24 September) is a compulsory orientation programme to introduce you to the School and your course. There is expected to be an additional International Student orientation programme on Thursday 20 September. This programme is for non-UK resident students, but all students are welcome to attend. Details will be found in the Orientation Programme timetable when this is published in August 2012.
Where do I need to go on the 24 September?
Details of your registration will be provided closer to the time. At registration you will be welcomed to the School, and then meet your Course Director to begin the introduction to your course. You should check your specific MSc course induction timetable for details of your Welcome and registration slot when these become available in August 2012.
How do I register for the course?
Your registration form and information on how to complete the form will be sent to you in an email in early September 2012. You should also read the Student Regulations carefully before signing the registration form. You should complete this form and bring it with you on Monday 24 September.
Registration for all new students will be on Monday 24 September 2012. Each course has its own registration time. It is not possible for you to register for your course before 24 September.
At registration we will check that you have satisfied all the requirements of your offer and check the details on your registration form. We will then check what arrangements have been made to pay your tuition fees, and then issue your student ID card. Please make sure that you bring the following with you:
- Any outstanding documentation as stated in your offer letter .
(evidence of qualifications, evidence of English language, evidence of financial support etc.). - Registration form - completed (and signed).
- Passport - we need to check your full legal name, date of birth and nationality / immigration status.
- Payment of tuition fees, if you have not already made payment.
- If you are a non-EU national then you should also bring a photocopy of your current visa and the ID page of your passport as we are required by UKBA to hold a copy of this information.
Original documents are required in all cases. Photocopies cannot be accepted.
You will find it very useful to bring several passport-size photographs with you at the start of the course.
Can I start my course if I have not achieved the required score in an English language test?
No - you will not be permitted to start your course unless you have provided original evidence that you have achieved the required English language test score by 24 September. If you have not achieved the required score, you should contact the Registry immediately, but you should not come to London, as you will not be allowed to start the course.
