About our Research
The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health, with 4000 students and more than 1300 staff working in over 100 countries. The School is one of the highest-rated research institutions in the UK, and was recently cited as one of the world’s top universities for collaborative research.
Our collaborative research programmes extend across the world, and at any one time we have over 100 members of staff living and working outside the UK. Our London-based staff are involved in extensive collaborative activities in the UK, the rest of Europe, and globally.
The School works in close partnership with institutions in low- and middle-income countries. We have a number of long-term, well-established major collaborations with institutions where we have had a senior member of LSHTM staff based for more than five years.
We are committed to working in equitable partnership with our collaborators, and are involved in many capacity strengthening projects and consortia including the Wellcome Trust African Institutions Capacity Building Consortia, the Public Health Foundation of India, and through clusters of Commonwealth Commission scholarships for distance learning.
Further information can be obtained from Professor Hazel Dockrell, Special Advisor to the Director on Overseas Partnerships (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Enquiries from academics about spending a sabbatical at the School should be addressed to the relevant Head of Department.
